Welcome to Elmslea Care

30 years ago Henry and Irene Stanbury opened the doors of their home at Elmslea to offer supported living to adults with complex needs, autism and learning disabilities. The purpose of Elmslea has always been to help people achieve their goals to independent living through a safe and secure family home environment

A Place to call Home

Experience the joy of supported living while embracing your uniqueness. Discover a space that celebrates your individuality and independence.

We encourage residents to take part in group activities, learning life skills such as cooking, sewing, budgeting, and educational tasks such as English and Maths

Care with Character

Embrace a lifestyle that prioritises your needs and celebrates your journey. Live life on your terms with our personalised support.

Our dedicated team of staff work together in fun and exciting ways to ensure that our residents are supported, but also empowered.

Each team member brings a different skill set to Elmslea, whether it be cooking up a nutritious meal in the kitchen, or helping to create some wonderful craft creations

Empowerment Unlimited

Discover the freedom to live independently while knowing you have the support you need. The best of both worlds, just for you.

Elmslea provides opportunities for all including:

  • Individually appropriate activities and occupations

  • Care plan to suit the needs, abilities and expressed wishes of the individual

  • Identifying and considering each individuals social, spiritual, cutural, emotional and physical needs

  • Support to make own choices based around a person centred plan

  • Regularly reviewing and amending care plans to meet the needs of the individual

Embracing Individuality

Everyone is different, and at Elmslea Care we support our residents to celebrate themselves in ways that they choose.

Learning and Development

Our team work with residents to support them with their own learning and development needs.

We can provide in house support with basic maths and English as well as offering budgeting advice, or guidance on filling out forms, making and attending appointments or help in gaining further qualifications from other providers.

Encourage and Nurture

As well as group activities, we welcome residents taking time to work on individual hobbies and interests.

The family centred support model:

Here at Elmslea we fully support a family centred approach, and achieve this through the following:

  • Family style meal times, working together to produce the meal and eating together with staff in a friendly and informal atmosphere

  • Holidays - Residents are able to enjoy a few days away throughout the year. We take small groups with similar interests and abilities so that activities can be arranged with something for everyone to enjoy - come rain or shine, our residents cant wait for their next trip to the beach house.

  • We also encourage residents to take part in local community events and groups - from dancing to chess to the monthly film night - some have a very active social life!

Family Feasts

Eating together is a great way for people to interact, even more so when its been a joint effort to prepare the meal.

Holidays are Coming

Our residents are always excited for a trip to the beach! Come rain or shine, there are walks, games and fun activities for all to enjoy.

Social Activities

Residents take part in lots of community activities and events, some volunteer with neighbourhood charities, others attend day centres to socialise with other groups and some head off dancing every week!
